How much sildenafil is 100 mg?
Sildenafil citrate is the generic version of Viagra, also called “the little blue pill.” Sildenafil citrate is a pill that is taken by mouth and is used to treat erectile dysfunction. It is also sold under the brand name Revatio, which is a drug used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension, a condition in which the blood pressure in the lungs is too high. (See Important Safety Information) (Smith, 2021).
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved 25 mg, 50 mg, and 100 mg doses of sildenafil for treating erectile dysfunction (ED). Off-label, doses of 20, 40, 60, 80, and 100 mg may also be given for ED. If you slowly increase your dose, it may be easier for you and your doctor to figure out the right amount (DailyMed, 2020).
There are doses of Sildenafil up to 100 mg, but that doesn’t always mean that’s the best amount for you. There are some serious side effects that can happen with sildenafil 100 mg tablets, and they get worse as the dose goes up.
How long does sildenafil 100 mg last?
In 30 to 60 minutes, Sildenafil starts to work. Some men find that it works even faster. You should take sildenafil between 30 minutes and four hours before you do anything sexual. Most of the time, the drug stays in your bloodstream for four to five hours (Zucchi, 2019; DailyMed, 2020).
How to take sildenafil 100 mg
To get the best results, take Viagra 30 to 60 minutes before you go to bed. Keep in mind that it won’t make you get an erection if you aren’t already sexually aroused.
You can take Viagra with or without food, but you should know that a high-fat meal can slow the absorption of the drug and make it take longer for it to work. Taking sildenafil first thing in the morning could make it work faster (Zucchi, 2019).
How often can daily Viagra be taken?
How much does 100 mg of sildenafil cost?
The price of sildenafil 100 mg depends on your health insurance, where you live, and which pharmacy you buy it from. A well-known prescription-discount site says that ten generic sildenafil 100 mg pills cost about $9, while the brand-name Viagra costs more than $670. (GoodRx, 2020).
Why do people take Viagra?
Viagra is a pill you can take to treat ED (sildenafil). It is in a group of drugs called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors, which also includes tadalafil (sold as Cialis; see Important Safety Information), vardenafil (sold as Levitra), and avanafil (brand name Stendra).
Sildenafil and other PDE5 inhibitors work by stopping the PDE5 enzyme from making blood vessels narrow. During an erection, a natural chemical called cGMP makes the blood vessels in the penis wider. This increases blood flow and makes the penis harder. Because PDE5 blocks cGMP, which stops erections, lowering PDE5 lets cGMP work its magic and make erections longer (Smith, 2021).
Remember that sildenafil and other PDE5 inhibitors don’t cause erections right away. Instead, they need to be used with sexual stimulation to work.
ED is when you can’t keep an erection up long enough to have satisfying sex. This includes erections that aren’t as hard or don’t last as long as you’d like. Some men with ED have trouble getting an erection in the morning as well.
Experts say that between 30 and 50 million American men have had ED at some point in their lives. It can happen to men of any age, but older men are more likely to have it. By the time a man is in his 40s, he has a 40% chance of having had ED. About 10% more chance every ten years of life (Ferrini, 2017; Sooriyamoorthy, 2021).
Still, ED is not seen as a “normal” part of getting older. It can also be caused by serious health problems (Sooriyamoorthy, 2021):
Plaque in the arteries slows the flow of blood to the heart, which can lead to heart disease. The same process might cut off blood flow to the penis, which can lead to ED.
Diabetes is characterized by high blood sugar levels, which can damage blood vessels and make it hard for blood to flow normally. This could then lead to ED.
Hypertension, also called high blood pressure, is a condition in which too much blood flows through the blood vessels, damaging them and making them smaller.
Anxiety and depression: ED can also be caused by things going on inside of a person, such as problems in relationships or performance anxiety.

Health of the womb and the sexes
At the first sign of erectile dysfunction (ED), it’s best to see a doctor so they can check your overall health and catch any major problems early. There are a lot of other ways to treat ED besides taking pills. Some of them are (Sooriyamoorthy, 2021):
medication injected into the penis (such as alprostadil, BiMix, and TriMix)
Changing your lifestyle so that you eat well, exercise regularly, lose weight, stop smoking, and drink less alcohol
Peyronie’s disease, which can cause ED, can be treated with surgery.
Penis pumps and cock rings are two examples of devices that can help blood get into the penis and stay there.
counseling to deal with mental health problems that could be causing ED
taking sildenafil into consideration
Sildenafil could cause low blood pressure. Usually, this happens 1 to 2 hours after taking the medicine. Talk to your doctor about taking sildenafil if you have low blood pressure, a history of heart attack or stroke, or other health problems (like heart problems or heart failure) (DailyMed, 2020).
You shouldn’t use sildenafil if you’ve ever had a bad reaction to it or any of its inactive parts. Don’t take sildenafil if you aren’t in good enough health to be sexual. If you’re not sure if you’re ready for sexual activity, talk to a health care professional.
side effects of sildenafil
Sildenafil and other medicines for erectile dysfunction (ED) can have side effects, just like a lot of other medicines. Smith (2021) says that the following are common side effects of Sildenafil:
Getting red in the face
a stomach ache or heartburn
Seldom, sildenafil can make it hard to see colors for a short time. If you have retinitis pigmentosa, you should talk to your doctor before taking a PDE5 inhibitor like sildenafil. Some people may also be more likely to get a condition called non-arteritic ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION), which can cause vision loss.
Sildenafil can also cause priapism, which is an erection that lasts longer than four hours. If you have priapism, you should see a doctor right away because it could have long-term effects if not treated (Smith, 2021).
How much Viagra should I take?
Sildenafil can interact with other drugs.
Viagra may have bad side effects when taken with other drugs, both those you get from a doctor and those you buy over the counter. So, before you start sildenafil, be sure to tell your doctor or nurse about any other medicines you are taking.
Never take nitrates with sildenafil or other drugs that stop PDE5 from working. These include amyl nitrite, which is sometimes called “poppers,” and prescription drugs like nitroglycerin that are used to treat chest pain. If sildenafil is taken with nitrates, it could cause a dangerous and possibly fatal drop in blood pressure (Smith, 2021).
Some medicines can affect the CYP3A4 enzyme in the liver that breaks down sildenafil. These drugs, which are also called CYP34A inhibitors, keep sildenafil in your body for a longer time. This makes the concentration and risk of side effects higher. DailyMed (2020) lists the following as examples of CYP34A inhibitors:
Ritonavir, Saquinavir, and Erythromycin are three drugs used to treat HIV.
If you already take drugs to treat high blood pressure, taking Viagra could make your blood pressure drop even more.
This is especially true if you are taking an alpha-blocker drug to treat high blood pressure, such as doxazosin. Alpha-blockers are used for more than just high blood pressure. When taken with Viagra, the alpha-blocker tamsulosin (sold under the brand name Flomax), which is also used to treat prostate problems like benign prostatic hyperplasia, may cause a similar drop in blood pressure.
Don’t take sildenafil with other PDE5 inhibitors (like Revatio for pulmonary hypertension) or other ED drugs (like Cialis and Levitra) to reduce the chance of a drop in blood pressure (DailyMed, 2020).
Last but not least, if you also take riociguat for pulmonary hypertension, you shouldn’t take Viagra because it could cause your blood pressure to drop too low. Tablets with 100 mg of sildenafil may affect how other medicines work. If you have questions or concerns about your health, you should talk to your pharmacist or another medical professional (DailyMed, 2021).
Where to buy sildenafil 100 mg
There is no Viagra that you can buy over the counter. You need a prescription to get it. Sildenafil shouldn’t be taken by people with certain medical conditions or who are on certain medications, because it can cause serious side effects.
Viagra, Cialis, and other medications for erectile dysfunction can be taken as tablets.
When you buy sildenafil online, don’t buy fake medicines. Many online ads that say you can get Viagra for a few cents are fake, and the medicine they sell could be harmful. They could have things like toxins, too much sildenafil, and other things.
One study found that up to 77% of the sildenafil sold online might not be real. When you buy from these sketchy websites, you never really know what you’re getting. If you want to use sildenafil 100 mg to treat ED, you should talk to a doctor and get a prescription from someone you can trust.
